I would an eye in a Bengal light

i remeber in elementary school that one of the parents got really mad that we did not sing the whole song in an assembly. i know that one of the parents that agreed was my dad- shocker, right? that was back when he was still fairly active in the uu church and we were helping bring families in from laos and vietnam and a few other places. so- we sang the whole song. and it really pissed off a few of the more conservative parents. but the music teacher and the principal, who had always hated not doing the whole song, admitted to me years later that they always hated not doing the whole song, that they tried to give us kids, who were from all over champaign, bused in from all parts of town and the school itself in the worst part of town, the whole view of things. and that year, that year we got it. and i always loved them for that.
