As seen everywhere...

Copy this sentence into your LiveJournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage, and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Seriously.  My choice to marry is more degraded by people who want to stop committed couples from marrying than it is by the fact that some of such couples happen to have matching genitalia.  Which, some to think of it, doesn't degrade that choice at all - more than anything, it affirms it.

Oh, and here's an anti-Prop 8 video by one of my favorite former law professors.

That could do it. It's all over my friends list, but I've got a whole lotta very liberal straight people and bisexual folks in het marriages on my f'list.

Now that I think about it, there is a definite smacking of "I have tons of privilege, but am going to show just how benevelent I am" to the whole meme.

I honestly don't grok all these proposals (I voted down the attempt in Florida this year) to PROTECT marriage. Wtf..who cares if 2 guys or 2 girls or a guy and a sheep want to get married? It's a civil matter. Have we totally forgotten the separation of church and state?!

I think the real question is whether some of these folks have ever known it well enough to forget it.
